Remember to get your horse(s) on a regular 6-8 week shoe, trim or maintenance schedule.
It takes an entire year for your horse to replace it's hoof from hairline/coronary band to ground. Every time the hooves are allowed to grow too long between farrier visits, it slows down your farrier's efforts to keep your horse's hoofs healthy. It is more cost effective for the horse owner to maintain a regular farrier program to eliminate possible pathological shoeing due to overgrowth or leg injuries where a vet may be required.

If you have a horse with serious cracking and chipping of the hoof, this can be avioded by a regular 6-8 week maintenance schedule.
